I have both Ubuntu and Windows 7 on my laptop. When I tried to upgrade Ubuntu from 12.10 version to 13.04, I accidently turned my laptop off. I tried to start Ubuntu again it didn't work. Now only windows works. The question is: is it possible to repair the system without formatting?

Does Ubuntu repair mode work? –  Danatela Jul 7 '13 at 7:13
Welcome to Ask Ubuntu! Can you give us with more information. What exactly is the error you get when you try to start Ubuntu? –  Alaa Jul 7 '13 at 7:21
@Alaa, When I start, I enter my password and then the touchpad doesn't work and the interface isn't shown. –  user173237 Jul 7 '13 at 7:46
@Danatela what do you mean by repair mode? You mean, in BIOS? –  user173237 Jul 7 '13 at 8:17
No, I mean repair mode in GRUB menu. You might catch the moment before Ubuntu logo is shown and quickly press ESC to enter this menu. –  Danatela Jul 8 '13 at 1:59
