I am using Ubuntu 12.10 on my desktop for quite a long time and I really liked it.

I have came across Ubuntu Official website and have found that Ubuntu 13.04 is released. It is showing it as Development Version. I didn’t get the term Development Version. Is it beta version?

So i need to know before upgrade what are the changes made/differences between Ubuntu 12.10 and 13.04. Also should i upgrade to 13.04 or should wait for final release.

Also if i upgrade, then whether my data will be lost?

Did you read the release notes? That should explain the changes. Where did you see 13.04 described as "Development Version"? Why should you think you'll lose your data if you upgrade? In any case, it's always recommended that data be backed up. –  user25656 Jul 4 '13 at 6:09

Sir, I read about Development Version on some websites. Anyways thank you very much. –  Gaurav Dighe Jul 4 '13 at 6:50

I've done several upgrades during the last years and not in a single case I had my data lost. So I'd say it's totally safe. Although new release might not have appropriate drivers for Your hardware -- it's the only danger I can see. I'm on 13.10 and happy with it. –  Adobe Jul 4 '13 at 7:07
