Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free.

This question already has an answer here:

my internet is extreeeeemly slow... I have installed Ubuntu few days ago, and it takes 0,5 to 2 minutes to load a simple website like google...

I booted one time with win7 which is still on my harddrive and the internet was fast (less 2 secs for a whole youtube video.

So tell me: Why does it take for the same video on ubuntu 2 fuc**n minutes?!?!

Thanks in advance xD Max

This question has been asked before and already has an answer. If those answers do not fully address your question, please ask a new question.

that is stupid, it definitely shouldn't be like that. I am not sure whether I can help, but it would help if you describe your setup. which version of Ubuntu? Is it about a wireless connection, or wired? and if you can find out what model network card do you have. for a wireless connection you can check whether there are proprietary drivers available, you can find those under software & updates under the 'additional drivers' tab in 13.04 and if I remember correct in a separate 'additional drivers' etry in the system settings in 12.04. –  Wouter Jun 30 '13 at 13:55
