I recently installed Ubuntu on my Toshiba L655 running windows 7. It is able to connect to wireless Internet but does not seem to detect the wireless networks in Ubuntu. What could be the problem? I have not tried anything yet.

You can't connect to a network without detecting it, so what is going on? –  Alvar Jun 26 '13 at 10:03

Can you expand on your question so that we can try and help sort this out. We need to know exactly what is happening. Which network card you have got installed in your Toshiba and what network are you trying to connect to? You may be able to enter the details to your network manually by clicking on the network icon in the top bar and selecting Hidden Hidden WiFi networks –  SimplySimon Jun 26 '13 at 10:31
