Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I would like to install ubuntu on a USB pen drive that has to be write protected after the installation. I am trying to do some research on this and have posted my query.

I need to purchase a USB pen drive that has a hardware write protection switch in which hardware write protection switch can be enabled and/or disabled as required as in the case of installing any other required files or updates or third party software or simply downloading any files that I know are safe to download to the drive.

Can some kind soul tell me which company makes a USB pen drive that has this feature on which Ubuntu and subsequent versions of Ubuntu can be installed and used in this method stated above without any glitches?

This would be more like a live USB with hardware security feature added in.

Kind Regards, Kc.
