I have Ubuntu 13.04 on my laptop and Nvidia GeForce 710M along with some Intel Graphics card. I tried to install a driver for Nvidia and ended up with a black screen at startup.
What I did was:
Open the virtual console
sudo service lightdm stop
navigate to NVIDIA.run folder
chmod +x NVIDIA.run
Installed the driver and launchbar and other stuff just gone, and the screen resolution was like half my screen. So what I did next was, according to a friend's explanation:
sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia*
sudo X -configure
sudo mv xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf reboot
Now, when I started my laptop, blackscreen
Next step, tried bumblebee:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bumblebee/stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install bumblebee virtualgl linux-headers-generic
Which lead to the same black screen. I neea help, please don't suggest installing ubuntu again.
