I am trying to build python 2.7 from source. I have gotten past the Unicode error and have gotten a different one. It was saying a module couldn't be found (specifically zlib). So I googled and said to install certain packages. I did then at the end of the make I found what modules will not be installed. So I tried downloading them all and non of them went away. Here is what I have done.
apt-get install libssl-dev libbz2-dev libreadline-dev libkaya-ncursesw-dev apt-get build-dep libssl-dev libbz2-dev libreadline-dev libkaya-ncursesw-dev ./configure --prefix=/storage/python2.7 --enable-unicode=ucs4 make
After make I get this.
Python build finished, but the necessary bits to build these modules were not found: _bsddb _sqlite3 _ssl bsddb185 bz2 dbm gdbm linuxaudiodev ossaudiodev readline sunaudiodev zlib To find the necessary bits, look in setup.py in detect_modules() for the module's name. running build_scripts
What am I missing... I don't think this would matter but the build is going onto an nfs server.
