I frelled my computer & have re-loaded Ubuntu 12.04 but when I signed into the backup & asked it to retrieve my files it said there are none! Is there a way I can get them back?

What's the size of the backup? If its zero, then all is gone. –  Alvar Jun 20 '13 at 17:12
I don't quite understand your question. "when I signed into the backup" What kind of backup are you talking about? How do you "sign in" to a collection of files? –  gertvdijk Jun 20 '13 at 17:28
Hello d0m. Welcome to AskUbuntu. It will be useful if you tell us which backup software are we talking about. There are several tools and the default backup tool of ubuntu is only one of the choices. Please provide as much information as possible in order to get the best support for you. Thank you. –  Geppettvs D'Constanzo Jun 20 '13 at 17:50
Hi I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 & in the System Settings there's an option to set a backup I believed it was to the Cloud. I set it to backup every week. D.K. how big the file had got to. You need to sign in to it to access the settings. –  d0m. Jun 21 '13 at 16:03
Hi I've found out that it is something to do with "Deja Dup". I have also found that other people are having the same problem, lost backup files, getting angry & are complaining on other sites. Have fun. d0m. –  d0m. Jun 22 '13 at 16:47
