I have a Lenovo G570 Laptop with the following specifications

Memory 3.8 GiB
Processor Intel® Core™ i5-2450M CPU @ 2.50GHz × 4
Graphics Intel® Sandybridge Mobile
OS type 64-bit
Disk 1.2 TB
Samsung SSD 120 GiB, WD HDD 1 TB
Swap 10 GiB

While playing games like Red Eclipse, Urban Terror, Sauerbraten, Xonotic, or Alien Arena sometimes my screen will freeze and I will have to turn the power off by the button. Recently I managed to press CTRL+ALT+F1 and saw a message saying the GPU hung, sometimes it does unfreeze but most the time I will have to reboot. are there any possible fixes for this.

This is the Error message I receive

[47557.283284] [drm:i915_hangcheck_hung] ERROR Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung

Does this occur without the dual monitor setup? –  Manuel Jun 19 '13 at 6:15
it does sometimes as well as with it –  zeitue Jun 19 '13 at 6:44
Running Urban Terror on my G570 results in the screen being covered in little boxes, mainly when I move the mouse. May be a bug with the integrated graphics. –  Wilf Oct 29 '13 at 18:37
