got new laptop with preinstalled ubuntu.but now i m getting few lines as

gnu grub version 1.99-21ubuntu3.1 minimal BASH-like line editing is supported.for the first word TAB listspossible command completions.anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions. grub>

dont konw what to do.. help?

can you add more details about the laptop and what all have you tried and when exactly this problem has started? – VRU Jun 18 '13 at 18:08
It sounds like grub is going into command mode instead of just booting into one of your partitions. Usually, you have to type a C to get it to that and you only do it when you need to modify boot parameters - which are moderately advanced options. It would help if you post the content of /boot/grub/grub.cfg. – Joe Jun 19 '13 at 18:37
Optionally, you can try running grub-customizer . It will run from a live-CD. It makes dealing with grub settings a lot easier and may help you see and fix the issue. – Joe Jun 19 '13 at 18:43
