Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have created a disk image which when I load it to /mnt/linux86 folder using the following command gives me these folders:

backprop  bin  boot  dev  etc  home  lib  lib32  lib64  lost+found
media  mnt  opt  proc  root  run  sbin  selinux  srv  sys  tmp   usr  var

and I have bound proc, dev and sys to /mnt/linux86 but when I used it in gem5 full system simulator it gives me this error: Freeing unused kernel memory: 248k freed FATAKernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

and the complete error is as here when it tries to boot the linux disk image.

I want to know what are other possible ways to make a bootable disk image and use it for gem5 simulator as gem5img.py script in gem5 gives me very weird errors. I also used debootstrap method but I ended up with the same error I received!

Please let me know how I can fix this problem or what are the alternative methods of creating a disk image which is 2 GB and has those mentioned folders after being mounted?

P.S.: Please let me know if this process can be done by qemu or kvm for x86 ISA.

Thanks, Mona.
