Ubuntu 12.04 works fine when live, but after installing as dual boot with Windows 7, it doesn't boot.

When I select Ubuntu from the boot menu, the screen keeps on flashing. I waited for 5 minutes and same thing. Is it not detecting the display?

I have the same issue with Mint 15 and Fedora 18. What is common between Mint 15, Fedora 18 and Ubuntu 12.04?

I am thinking of installing Ubuntu 13.04. If I go for that, will I have the same problem? Ubuntu 12.10 worked fine when I tried it.

Ok. I am not sure what the problem is, but if it works in 12.10 it will probably work in 13.04. But, just to see if this works, can you try using the nomodeset option from booting? I think there is more info here: ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132. Set the nomodeset from grub. –  DaboRoss Jun 10 '13 at 7:31
