I am using 12.04. Intel 82574L GB Ethernet card worked perfect (DHCP) from the installation. However, a week or so after switching back from Kubuntu to Gnome, the network manager indicated that the wired network is disconnected. tried all fixes that I can find to no avail.

Below is the out put from lshw -C network.
