I recently upgraded the video card in my computer and had some issues. The video card works perfect but since i was using a tv as a monitor I had trouble getting video to show. I managed to get that issue fixed but in the process I had keep turning my pc off without a proper shutdown. Now when I shutdown my pc it doesn't want to turn off. It goes through a list of commands saying everything is shutting down and after it's done it shows a line of text telling me to shut down the system and then just sits there. A couple of times it has shutdown like normaly no problem but mostly I just get that text now. If anyone can tell me what's going on and how to fix it it would be very appreciated. I am using version 13.04 if that makes a difference.

Does the same thing happen when you shutdown the computer from the terminal by running: sudo shutdown -P now? –  karel Jun 6 '13 at 4:19
