Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free.

I made a dualboot windows 7 / Ubuntu 12.04 or 13.04 on my ssd samsung 840 250Gb and ubuntu seems slower / less reactive than windows 7.

On windows 7 apps start faster than on ubuntu.

Is it normal ?

If you need more info say it ;)

Ok I find out what was wrong on ubuntu and that was my fault... On Ubuntu I set the PC to silent mode with samsung-tools. I thought it just slowdown the fan but it slowdown the CPU too... So Ubuntu is almost as responsive as Windows ;) –  user117506 Jun 15 '13 at 20:16

You should tune up your ubuntu to make it work with ssd better. I found this article and it works on my box How to tweak and optimize SSD for Ubuntu, Linux Mint from Nam Huy Linux Blog

BTW, i have never like the idea dual boot, either host windows and virtualbox ubuntu or ubuntu host and windows virtualbox works better in my opinion.
