I'm runnig 12.04 with a nvidia GeForce 9300M GS and since kernel update from 3.2.0-42-generic to 3.2.0-43-generic (and from 3.2.0-43 to 44 and 44 to 45) the screen resolution and unity configuration are broken after reboot the system to complete installation.
Each time I solve the problem uninstalling nvidia driver, running unity --reset, reinstalling drivers and then rebooting, but I´m looking for a permanent fix.
After login screen a message is displayed saying "stored resolution can't be loaded because it doesn't match possible options" and a incorrect one is used.
Additional Drivers shows no one installed (when nvidia-current-updates are actually installed) and if I try to install a diferent one always get an error message until I purge nvidia drivers.
Icons in launcher are in default size (pretty big) and I can´t change it because in System Configurations>Appearance the icons size slider is gone.
My theme is not displayed and Ambiance is showed missconfigured, but running nautilus with root privileges shows my theme.
After googling a bit I suppose it´s related to X.org but I´m not skilled enough to find my answer in Xorg.0.log. I couldn´t find an answer that match exactly with my problem and I don´t want to make random tests.
I hope someone understand my poor english and can give me a hint ; )
