After an update to 13.04 sometime last week, my system now boots to TTY1 instead of to the default display manager LightDM.

LightDM is in fact set as my default boot display manager and the '/etc/X11/default-display-manager' config file correctly points to '/usr/sbin/lightdm'.

If I miss type the login or password at the TTY1 prompt (I'm a terrible typist) instead of repeating it opens LightDM like normal. If I correctly enter the login and press [enter] to enter the password it immediately skips past the password and opens LightDM like normal.

How can I fix this and get the system to boot like normal directly to LightDM and not the TTY1 console?

The update this morning somehow fixed whatever was happening. –  Exomancer Jun 1 '13 at 1:15
After today's update it's happening again. If I hit enter at the "Login" request several times it starts LightDM. Does anyone have any idea why my system will not just boot to LightDM? –  Exomancer Jun 7 '13 at 1:09
Hi Again ... today after an update last night I did not see the tty console. Instead I saw an nVidea splash screen and then LightDM started. What is going on here? What's going to happen after the NEXT update and the one AFTER that? Any ideas? –  Exomancer Jun 15 '13 at 11:52
