I have a windows XP machine and my hard disk crashed and i cannot get a replacement ATA hard drive now a days. I downloaded the rar file of ubuntu rar. How can i install into a USB drive so that from boot up it loads Ubuntu and since i have a separate external HDD, can use it?

i recomend you

-yes you can use your external HDD

-unetbootin can automatically install on external HDD for you
