Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I use the following commands to flush all iptable rules:

sudo iptables -F
sudo iptables -X
sudo iptables -t nat -F
sudo iptables -t nat -X
sudo iptables -t mangle -F
sudo iptables -t mangle -X
sudo iptables -P INPUT ACCEPT
sudo iptables -P FORWARD ACCEPT
sudo iptables -P OUTPUT ACCEPT

But after a few minutes, the iptables rules come back to the previous state before I cleared the rules. This is very weird. Can anyone help me figure out why it is happening?

Is there any firewall active? What's the output of sudo ufw status? –  Eric Carvalho May 27 '13 at 2:42
