I'm trying to follow the download instructions found at http://wiki.rabbitvcs.org/wiki/install/ubuntu

When I run the "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rabbitvcs/ppa" command, I get the following error message:

root@mymachine:/home/see# sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rabbitvcs/ppa
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/add-apt-repository", line 125, in <module>
    ppa_info = get_ppa_info_from_lp(user, ppa_name)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/softwareproperties/ppa.py", line 84, in get_ppa_info_from_lp
    curl.perform()
pycurl.error: (7, "couldn't connect to host")

I've made sure to run the export http_proxy = name of our proxy server command... but I'm still getting the same message.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04.1

Here's the results from lsb_release -a command:

No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:    Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
Release:        12.04
Codename:       precise

Can anyone suggest any other work arounds / solutions? Thanks.
