Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Why do we have to go through so many manipulations to get the correct/native tty (and plymouth) resolution when the live USB is just fine upon booted?

And even more, why can't I get the native resulotion for the tty when it was obviously ok with the live distro?

I have a "NVIDIA GT218 Board - 10350500" graphic card. Unity is up to 1920x1080, but sudo hwinfo --framebuffer | grep "Mode" does not give be a resolution above 1600x1200.

This is not a "How to set tty resultion" question, I already found those, thanks ;-).
