Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I got an old celeron from my friend without an OS. I wanted to install Ubuntu. But as soon as I booted into the install menu where it asks for the language the grafhics gets messed up so much that I can't use it. The bottom half of the screen is random coloured spots and the top half is semi usable, but the cursed makes a tailed black line and I can't see anything. Does anyone else have this problem, and is it fixable. It use to work fine.

Can you edit your question to include what your graphics card is? –  Jop May 16 '13 at 17:12

Please edit your post to include which version of Ubuntu you are trying to install and more specs on your system hardware (which can be gleaned from the BIOS menus) so that we can provide you with workable solutions. –  douggro May 16 '13 at 17:14
