Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 with the Cinnamon desktop, on a Thinkpad X220.

After running a system update yesterday, Ubuntu no longer locks and asks for my password when I wake from suspend. This includes pm-suspend, closing the laptop lid, and suspending from the GUI. This is a significant security problem for me.

The setting "require my password after waking from suspend" is checked, in the ubuntu system settings ("brightness and lock"). In dconf-editor, I have the following settings:

org.gnome.desktop.lockdown disable-lock-screen false
org.gnome.desktop.screensaver lock-enabled true
org.gnome.desktop.screensaver ubuntu-lock-on-suspend true

The issue still occurs if I switch to Unity, and persists after a reboot.
