I'm writing an article about FOSS music players and was curious to know who created the Rhythmbox music player project ? Also why was it created ? Was it because there was a lack of good music player applications for Linux then ?

I thought this was a simple fact based question. Surely someone in the community would remember who created Rhythmbox and the main motivation behind it. (For eg: Banshee creator Aaron Bockover clearly states in an old blog post that he made Banshee as he was dissatisfied with the current options on Linux, I was looking for something similar for Rhythmbox). –  Tushar B May 12 '13 at 9:22
No - not really - the "why" and "lack of good music players" is not constructive. Strictly speaking. The "who" is Q&A - if you want to ask that specifically then ask this on since your question then is applicable to linux in general rather than ubuntu. –  fossfreedom May 12 '13 at 9:30
Oh OK, thanks for the tip, I'll ask the question on instead. –  Tushar B May 12 '13 at 9:31

that's a very good intention.

Rhythmbox was created by (according to the Credits) James Livingston, Jonathan Matthew along with many contributors. It is one of the several projects of GNOME and it's a pretty good music player.

You may contact the developers through its Launchpad page or via their website for more details.

Thanks ! I have dropped emails to the developers you mentioned, however, they are probably too busy to reply (my deadline is today) . Do you know of any websites/magazines that might have interviewed these developers or mentioned about the origins of Rhythmbox ? –  Tushar B May 12 '13 at 8:38
Not that I know of any. Try contacting Full Circle Magazine –  J. Austin Rodriguez May 14 '13 at 12:58
Oh OK thanks ! I am actually writing the article for Full Circle Magazine. –  Tushar B May 14 '13 at 16:10
