Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I had Windows 7 32 bit installed, but now installed Ubuntu 12.04 64bit. I lost sound in internal speakers - headphone sound works correctly. I tried almost everything - no effect. Alsamixer shows speakers not muted, full volume set.

apt-get install linux-alsa-driver-modules-$(uname -r) output is:

Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package linux-alsa-driver-modules-3.2.0-41-generic E: Couldn't find any package by regex 'linux-alsa-driver-modules-3.2.0-41-generic'

Several days before unexpectedly speakers just started to work (have no idea why..) but today don't work again. The sound in the headphones is excellent all the time.

I guess that some wrong internal settings just prevent the output from going to speakers. Speakers alone - physical device - works fine.

Has anybody any suggestions ?
