I have an annoying problem and have no further ideas how I could solve it. I want to install ia32-libs, but there seem to problems with some broken packages:

euphorie@welle:~$ sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

I'm on a Kubuntu 12.04 so

sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386

unfortunately is no solution.

I already tried downgrading with the help of /etc/apt/preferences with the lines

Package: *
Pin: release a=quantal*
Pin-Priority: 2012

but this has no no effect (no packages are proposed for downgrading).

Do you have any ideas or hints?

Have you tried sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install ia32-libs-multiarch:i386? –  thefourtheye May 26 '13 at 5:20
