I am new to Ubuntu and don't know much about computers.
I switched from Windows yesterday so when I use sudo in the terminal I am just copying and pasting from google search results - so I really have no idea what I am doing.
I tried to install opera because I liked it in windows and in android. I downloaded the 'debian' installer because it didn't show up in software center.
It completely destroyed my software center - it is frozen and I have no idea how to fix (I have a different thread for that though).
Can I use this thing called synaptic package mangager to install Opera? or am I stuck with Firefox (which is better than explorer - lol, but not as good as opera and chrome. I cant find chrome for linux. What does synaptic do for me?
Also, I liked the windows 'terminal' a lot. I used it when it was MSDOS so I liked to do some things from command line -
ipconfig with switches, flush DNS, renew IP, etc.
Where can I find a reference of Ubuntu terminal commands? like sudo - that seems like a common one but I have no idea what it does - I am just copying and pasting.
It is very scary not knowing what you are doing.
