By default, Ubuntu 13.04 is supposed to boot graphically, correct? My Ubuntu install boots up half graphical and half verbosely.
Also, I have to reboot twice in order to boot, meaning I press the power button on my laptop, and it runs my bios, flashes the normal Ubuntu pink for about 3 seconds, then a black square about 2 by 2 appears at the bottom right corner of the pink screen. After all of this, my computer screen goes black until I completely power off again (by holding the power button). Then I press the power button again after running to the pink screen, shutting down one time, and it boots normally.
When Ubuntu actually boots, first, it flashes purple. Then, GRUB comes up. It sits at a black screen for about 20 seconds. Then it flashes black again, and says something about not being able to detect acer_wmdi devices. Then the Ubuntu splash screen with the 5 dots comes up, and Ubuntu boots normal.
I'm not sure why this happens, and any help would be much appreciated.
