Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I tried installing Ubuntu 13.04 on my Windows 7 Home Premium Toshiba. First I downloaded it, then burned it on a virtual disc using magicdisc, afterwards tried installing. I had to use the cd help in booting since there was no disc in the drive. Upon rebooting it asks if I want to run Ubuntu or Windows. I click Ubuntu and a purple screen with the Ubuntu logo comes. Then the screen goes black and in white it says "completing installation" and below it it says "no medium was found for files"

Installing from virtual CD to real hard drive won't work. Use a Live USB instead. –  user68186 May 1 '13 at 14:47
