Ok, so I am trying to install Ubuntu onto my hp envy laptop for the first time, and I when I boot from my disc it takes me to a menu where I can either choose to try Ubuntu without installing or I can install Ubuntu. When I try to install Ubuntu the screen blacks out for a long time until I receive a message telling me that I "need to load the kernel first." Seeing as this is the first time that I have installed Ubuntu, I have absolutely no idea how to fix this problem, or what a kernel is for that matter. I have tried searching for the answer but every single post on the internet having anything to do with "loading kernels first" also pertain to situations in which the user already had a working linux installation and was trying to dual boot or something and none of them had an answer that pertained to my problem. I highly appreciate any help that I receive and I thank anyone in advance.
