Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

On Ubuntu 13.04, I was installing a software needed library libipq.h. I found that this library is under package iptables-dev. Even after installing this package, I got the following error:

fatal error: libipq.h: No such file or directory

The code which needed this library:

#include <libipq.h>

What is the problem?

Also I did not see the libipq.h in file list of iptables-dev.

As written in change-log of iptables the library libipq has been obsoleted in 3.5 and later kernels. And in that change-log it suggested that libipq users should transition to nfnetlink_queue library which is available in package libnfnetlink-dev.

As written here there is a way to transition to another supported library. –  Mohammad Etemaddar May 4 '13 at 10:46
