Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

When I boot up sometimes I get a black screen with just a mouse. So to solve that I hit Ctrl-alt-f5 to go to tty5. I then run the command unity which gives me the unity bar, but it still has a black backround. Behind the unity bar you can see the color of the backround. It might have something to do with the live-wallpaper app that I uninstalled because I got the problem with that but when I turned it off It worked. I unintsalled live wallpaper to fix this problem. It did not help though even after complete removal.
