I want to make ubuntu my only OS. I currently have 12.10 installed, however 12.04 would not load after I downloaded it.

I have tranfered all my data off the computer and am prepared to delete MS windows. Help me to do this.

This questions seems to be a duplicate of this one. Most "basic" questions such as this one have already been answered, so next time try to search before asking a new question. That way you don't have to wait for an answer and people don't have to spend time sorting out duplicates. Thanks! –  duxk.gh Apr 27 '13 at 16:21

Note that whatever you do, have a Live CD/USB of Ubuntu or boot-repair-disc (or both). If something goes wrong with the partitioning you might find yourself unable to boot into anything, and these tools can be a lifesaver. –  Alex Apr 27 '13 at 16:23

I just realized I might have misunderstood your question. Do you want to re-install Ubuntu or keep it the way it is and only delete Windows? –  duxk.gh Apr 27 '13 at 16:34

if you don't want to reinstall I think this should work, although I have never done it myself:

  • format you windows partition
  • install Grub customizer as described here to delete windows from your grub menu

  • if you want to add the windows partition to you Ubuntu partition you need to do this from a live cd/usb because you need to unmount your Ubuntu partition.

Formatting partitions can be done with a program like GParted. It's in the Software Center. –  duxk.gh Apr 27 '13 at 16:36
