Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a NETGEAR RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Adapter WNDA3100 v2 wireless adapter. Its the kind that connects to your computer via USB and lets you acess wifi. I am running Ubuntu by booting off a usb, because I am just trying it out before I install. I really have no idea how to use it but when I click the wireless icon on the right side of that top bar its says I am not connected to the internet. I really can't get a feel for ubuntu without the internet becuase programs as simple as the music player requires an mp3 codec from the internet, and other similar problems.
