I have dual operating systems on my laptop. While I am using Win7 I work 3-3.5 hours on balanced mode. Unfortunately with Ubuntu the lifetime declined to 1.2 hours. How can I achieve the same battery lifetime of Ubuntu as with Windows?

Yeah, as @XxxXxx said, you should name your laptop brand and model. –  Томица Кораћ Apr 25 '13 at 11:43

Take a look at This. –  Mitch Apr 25 '13 at 12:06

The two things to look for are screen brightness and CPU scheduler - I found that on my Asus UX31, that after an install, that the brightness was all the way up and the CPU scheduler was set on performance which locked the speed at the max. There are various tools to change/set these. –  Drake Clarris Apr 25 '13 at 13:39
