I have tons of youtube videos (ones that I downloaded with the downloadhelper) that I use at home to listen to music using VLC (which obviously plays the video too....and it makes a perfect combination for our parties).

My problem is that the sound quality varies.....is there a way to analyze these videos and improve the sound quality (or at least bring it to the same level) with a programme?

There is no way to actually improve the sound quality of anything at all. The only thing that can be done is applying various filters to eliminate noise etc. –  FSMaxB Apr 25 '13 at 15:25
