So, I had windows 7, wanted to reinstall it onto a new HDD but since I no longer have the installation disk this proved tricky. So I thought, let's go with ubuntu then. Installed ubuntu 12.10 from cd, no problems, internet connected while installing, followed all the recommended options. Tried to boot my computer (with only the HDD with ubuntu) and it doesn't work! I'm getting the error message: error attempt to read or write outside of disk 'hd0' and then I come to grub-rescue which I have no clue how to use and even if I did, I don't know what the problem is... except that my computer won't start the ubuntu OS.
Anyways, looked at some forums, didn't find a solution for my problem so just wondering if there are any thoughts or suggestions on how to solve this annoyance.
