Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I know there's fixes but none of them are working. For some reason when I restarted my PC out of a lag my side bar never came up. I looked and looked and looked and researched and it's Unity. So after most of the day noticed the Unity service isn't on at all. I tried installing that and still has problems. When I type in unity to try to reset it, it gives me this error:

xlib: extension "glx" missing on display ":o.o".
compiz (opengl) - fatal: glxquery extensionsstring is null for screen 0

It looks like when I type in unity it says OpenGl isn't on. How do I set it to be on? I don't know why it's giving me this error. I only started using Linux today and it's giving me this much trouble I almost want to go back to Windows. Guys, help!
