When I navigate in my folders it's very slow. Sometimes it's fast sometimes it's slow. The strange thing is that only the folder navigation is slow, because my Unity is very fast.

My PC Specs:

  • Ubuntu 12.10
  • Memory: 7.7 GiB
  • Processor: Intel Core i5
  • OS Type: 64-bit
  • Disk Partition: ext4, 246 GB

Is there some problem and how do I resolve it?

That should be "normal" if you have a lot of files on the folder you are browsing, or if the files in that folder can be previewed (images and video thumbnail generation take some time). The last one should only happen the first time, because thumbnails are cached... –  Salem Apr 22 '13 at 18:10
@Salem : Sluggish performance might have become standard with Nautilus over the past releases, but it most certainly isn't normal. There are several bug reports concerning this issue. One can be found here. Dolphin and other file managers don't have these problems and it doesn't appear to make any difference whether thumbs are enabled or not. –  Glutanimate Apr 22 '13 at 18:20
