I have tried many burning the ubuntu 12.04 iso file on to a dvd but it always fails to do so. The windows burner displays an error while burning. No problem with the iso as i have checked its integrity. Please someone suggest an alternative way of installation. i tried installing from a usb but it only gets booted from a pendrive, but i wish to install ubuntu permanently.

Cool. But... you are having problem with a Windows system or with hardware. We would love to have you install Ubuntu but can not help you with non-Ubuntu problems ;-) Have a search for the error you get. Possible: you might need a DVD (the ISO at some point got larger than a CD). –  Rinzwind Apr 21 '13 at 19:49

"only gets booted from a pendrive" -- yea, of course. Then click install. –  psusi Apr 21 '13 at 22:59
