My sony vaio VPCEH27FD (E series) will not sleep after I close the lid, it stays on i can hear the fan and hard drive on, when i wake it up sometimes it wont respond and I have to force power off. Please help ;'( I really want to stay on ubuntu.

This seems to be a bug in 13.04 and a bug report has been filed. Please go here, and vote for this bug:

Suspend malfunction also here. Laptop HP dv9500, Intel architecture, Video card GeForce 8600M GS, Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit (online upgrade from 12.10). Totally frozen system which fails to resume working after suspend. Very very annoying to have to use force-restart.
