Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Almost every time I switch my power from battery to AC or unplug it, the screen goes black as if it's asleep and I can't get it back. I used to be able to hit the switch that the top part of my laptop hits to make it think it was closed which would reset the issue but that doesn't work any more. Recently, when I'm not using my laptop and it goes in to sleep mode. Naturally, it doesn't come out of it and I have to restart my PC just to get the screen to come back on.

I'm new to Kubuntu/Ubuntu and I have 12.10 on an older compaq presario. If you explain something to me I may not know any of the special jargon exclusive to programers.
