I wanted to get rid of my Windows for a while. I can't do it for good because I'm into musical production so a Windows is always welcomed on my system. I tried to install Ubuntu on the following configuration:
Intel G860, Asus P8B75-V (B75 Intel chipset), 4Gb of 1600Mhz Corsair Vengeance DDR3, EVGA nVidia GT610, 1T Seagate SATA III 7200rpm HDD, and my ESI Maya 44e PCIe sound card.
I went for 10.04 64bit architecture. The Linux installed without any problems. I installed Ubuntu using the Windows installer (to check up first compatibility). I didn't went using the ext3 and swap format. I went directly on an empty primary NTFS partition. The system loaded, but from time to time an error appeared in the top of the screen saying something about: checking battery?... :) This is a desktop system not a notebook, what battery? I restarted the computer and the loading sequence was displayed wrong on my desktop (a bunch of line and dots), but after, I could log in. After a while the same problem with the battery appeared. Also Ubuntu gave me some other errors saying to me that I need to restart the computer.
Finally (not being able to perform any other operations because of those problems) I uninstalled Ubuntu. Can anybody tell me what the problem is? Is there any incompatibility with my configuration? I wish to use Ubuntu for day to day activities (when I'm not editing music) but I can't.. I don't know what to do. Also, I bet I can't have a driver for my sound card. I found some drivers on Internet but they are for Ubuntu 8, and they where not compatible.
