After installing 12.04 and setting up an encrypted RAID everything worked fine: - the volume was mounted automatically on startup - I could unlock it using the passphrase I chose during setup
Today I ran
apt-get upgrade and several packages/core modules were updated. After rebooting the PC and trying to unlock the encrypted volume using the same passphrase as before I now always get a "incorrect passphrase" error message :(
What can I do to access my encrypted data?

so, problem wasn't the upgrade but that I was trying to unlock the volume via remote desktop. I added a "real" display to the setup and then my passphrase works ...!?
New question: Isn't it possible to unlock an encrypted volume via remote desktop?

Now I changed the passphrase to
1234 but even this rather short/easy/unsafe passphrase isn't working when I try to unlock the drive via VNC.
