I got a webserver running on my machine. When I connect to the local adress (or the online IP) I could see the standard Hi this works file. So I got a few projects on my older machine I put in the folder "/var/www" and thought well now I'll be able to connect to them.

But they don't even show up (after I delete the index.html file) the only thing I see is the "/phpmyadmin" folder.

The "/var/www" folder:

drwxrwxrwx 3 root www-data 4096 Apr 7 18:14 www

Inside the folder:

drwxrwxrwx 9 luke www-data 4096 Apr 7 18:14 MinecraftMania

What did I do wrong?

did you try http://ipaddress/MinecraftMania? and what's inside that folder? –  nickanor Apr 7 '13 at 16:39

When you go to /var/www from a web browser, what do you see? –  Lucio Apr 7 '13 at 17:14

when I go to server.local I used to see the apache index file everything is working, I deleted that file and got "unable to connect". I do know I changed my ports and followed some instruction I found. I made a www-8887 folder and it seems he's linking to that folder. If I put something overthere he shows it. HMM, I don't know what I actually did. (I'm a linux newby btw) –  Luke Apr 7 '13 at 17:28
