I'm trying to connect to my home VPN server. I can connect using this command:
sudo pptpsetup --create <TUNNEL> --server <IP_ADDRESS> --username <USERNAME> --password <PASSWORD> --start
but it doesn't show up as a connection when using the
ifconfig command so I got a bit stuck when trying to work out how to route the 192.168.1.x range of ip addresses through this tunnel.
When I try connecting via the GUI it doesn't work - looking at the syslog gives me this http://pastebin.com/BK4vE6K4. It seems to stop with the error message 'The synchronous pptp option is NOT activated'. Doing a search on this error message doesn't help.
I'd can't find any up to date resources on setting up a PPTP VPN in (k)ubuntu via the GUI - the only resources seem to be aimed at older versions of the OS with different UI options (notably the routing tables)
Can someone help me setup my pptp vpn connection on Kubuntu 12.10?
