I installed a first batch of updates after doing a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.10 tonight on my laptop. The fresh install worked great. But after the updates when it offered me to restart it will not boot now. I tried recovery mode items like start in safe graphics mode or update grub but none of this solves the problem. I know that it updated the kernel to 3.5....0.26 from .17 (only two kernels I see in boot screen). I tried loading older kernel and it's also hanging, though.
Please help. I don't even know how to approach the problem. Today is the first day I decided to go on Linux full-time, and now this.
I'm thumbing through search links: I ran dpkg --configure -a and it didn't work. So doesn't seem like it was an interrupt in the update.
I guess nobody's gonna help me :(
