5 months ago I installed Ubuntu on a new Fujitsu Lifebook AH 532, chucking out Windows. Only now, when I want to reinstall for various reasons, do I realise that my computer has no bios but EFI (or UEFI?)
Nevertheless, when the computer starts I read on the Fujitsu splash screen: "F2 for boot options F12 for bios." F2 gives me blank screen until eventually Ubuntu starts from HDD. F12 gives me 1 - one - boot option (Ubuntu on HDD - no USB, no CD). I can access the grub meny with ESC.
I read the directions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI They say: "Warning: even if your PC boots the CD in EFI mode, it might boot the HDD in Legacy mode". Is that my case? Repair seems to be contingent on booting from CD/USB. I have the Windows recovery disk, but of course it won't boot either.
I really do need to reinstall Ubuntu. My current installation is a 64 bit 12.04 Pangolin on one partition + swap.
I hope there is a way out of this because I feel very stuck.
