For the past year I have been able to connect from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS to a Windows share on a USB drive connected to my Windows XP machine. Today (3/23/2013) my Ubuntu Update Manager contained several Linux updates, and I allowed them to be installed (very routine). Now when I try to connect to the shared folder on the USB drive, it fails, and gives a cryptic error: "Unable to mount location. Failed to mount Windows share". I can still connect to the 'standard' SharedDocs folder on the C drive of the XP machine, as well as print to the HP USB printer plugged into the XP machine. Is there some problem with the Linux updates pushed out on March 22 - 23? I have always accomplished the connection from the "Places, Network" pull-down menu system. I have not tried any mount commands from a command prompt.
