I have a laptop with Ubuntu 12.04 and there seems to be a software issue.
I tried installing WICD network manager and I tried a 'sudo service network-manager restart ' and I even updated all of my software packages and cycled the power.
I am not sure what else to do :/
My wireless connectivity has no issues, and when I tether my phone via usb the connection also works just fine. It is just the cat6 cable which seems to be giving me trouble.
I am very confused because I use this laptop every weekday at my job, and the cable which I am connecting to the internet with works just fine. There is a Windows machine right next to me which I tested the cable with and that computer had no issues.
And when I ping Google as a test I get some very strange activity:
ping google.com

I have a 10Mbps symmetrical connection and no one else in the building is having issues.
Can someone point me in the right direction to fix my issue please?
Edit: Now the cat6 connection is totally useless. I am using my phone :(
